My journey to BI: From Italy to Norway

Name: Tiziana Fadda

Degree programme: Master of Science in Finance

Undergraduate Degree: Economics and Business, Major: Finance

Undergraduate University: LUISS Guido Carli University

Hometown: Cagliari, Italy

Citizenship: Italian

Motivation

I first heard about BI Norwegian Business School through my undergraduate university, LUISS, because they are partners.

I decided to go to BI because of the many opportunities this university offers, because of the very innovated campus and facilities and for the high quality and prestige of the Master of Science in finance.

I believe this will help my career by developing a very in-depth knowledge about finance and also by strengthening the competences and skills needed in order to succeed in the job market.

Academic Experience

The best piece of advice I can give to a new student about my programme is to start studying from the very first day since we have so many weekly assignments and homework.

I have been challenged by the very high pace required during the weeks of the midterms, since I had to study for those and, at the same time, had to hand in other assignments.

International Experience

The biggest culture shock for me moving here was the very cold weather compared to what I am used to.

The most remarkable experience I have had so far is the boat trip during the buddy week at the beginning of the semester. There, I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with my classmates while seeing the wonderful small islands near Oslo.

The one thing you absolutely must do while living here is to manage to be lucky enough to see the northern lights (which I hope I will soon).

The scariest thing about moving away from home was being in another country without really knowing it.

Reflections

The most remarkable/interesting thing I learned about myself at BI so far is that I can sit at the library for 12 hours.

My career goal is to immediately find a job in the finance area once I graduate. Right now, I think that I would love to work in the brokering field of finance but my decision is not final yet since I still have two years to learn and discover new aspects of the subject.

Do not miss your chance, GO NORTH!
